Los Gatos, CA — July 10 2024 – Katherine Filice is thrilled to announce that her artwork, A View from the Moon No. 3, will be featured in the upcoming "Boundaries" exhibition at the New Museum of Los Gatos. The exhibition runs from July 19, 2024, to Oct 6, 2024 and will showcase a diverse collection of works that challenge and explore the concept of boundaries in innovative ways.
As a multimedia abstract artist, Filice creates works that merge ink, sculpted paper, mica, found natural objects, oil painting, and drawing. Her work deeply investigates themes of spiritual boundaries, connections, and memories, both in her personal sphere and within the greater human collective. A View from the Moon No. 3 continues this exploration by offering a perspective that transcends earthly confines, prompting viewers to consider the infinite boundaries of the cosmos.
"The environment, particularly the whispering voices of the Northern California conifers, profoundly influences my work," says Filice. "Their stories, written in the bark, needles, and beetle trails, are woven into my art as I seek a transformative connection that breaks through spiritual boundaries."
Filice’s work is a collaboration with the natural world. She often incorporates bark, branches, and other organic elements into her pieces, even burying raw canvas for seasons to allow nature to mark it. Through this co-creation with the forest, her work transcends the material and breaches a spiritual boundary, intertwining human existence with a higher spiritual presence.
