On October 2, 2020, Katherine Filice’s “Memory April” was selected from 100 finalists as “Best in Show” in the Beyond 20/20 Art Exhibit. The grand prize is a one-month solo show at the Pacific Art League Gallery in Palo Alto, California USA. The selection was juried by Yu Chun-Hui and Ric Ambrose.
Ric Ambrose noted the delicacies of the curvilinear lines that define the musculature of the figure are very similar to that of an engraving or etching, reminiscent of the pre-renaissance—where lines defined shape more than light and shadow. He stated, “The white space is just as activated…it was a stunning moment when we saw it in person.”
After the news was announced on the show's virtual opening night, Filice noted she was “incredibly honored and excited to be among such incredible talent. I am really looking forward to working on my solo exhibition over the coming months. I am extremely grateful to the jurors and show committee.”
