In The Nature of Things, Katherine Filice invites us to explore the delicate interplay between the natural world and the unseen forces that shape our existence. Through a meditative process of mark-making and layered compositions, her pieces evoke the interconnected systems of life—branches and roots, neural pathways and rivers, memories and echoes.

“In this exhibition, I wanted to create a space for stillness—where presence and absence, structure and flow, memory and matter all coexist,” says Filice. “It’s about what connects us in the spaces between what we think we know and what we can only vaguely sense.”

Toni Bowles, Founder and CEO of The Neon Exchange, explains, "Be Seen Gallery is an accessible community space where artists from marginalized communities—artists of color, women artists, LGBTQ+ artists, artists with disabilities, and those from underrepresented backgrounds—can be seen and heard without the constraints of formalized gallery representation. Our first formal exhibit, The Nature of Things, will showcase works by the Be Seen Gallery Co-Curator/Changemaker Katherine Filice. I’m honored to collaborate with an artist I respect in a way that leverages each of our strengths for the benefit of our community.”
